Shonkys 2019 – AMP

Australian Mutual Provident was the big
Australian financial institution back then. It was the trusted one, the profits went back to the policyholders and little did I realise in 1988 that that
would soon all change. Something that my parents introduced me to that I remember is that they had an AMP financial planner and they were doing some work
with my dad, and while they were doing that I signed up to an AMP
superannuation scheme. It’s not just the individual
that’s the victim, I think it’s the whole community that will be affected by
what those companies are doing. I’ve warned people now not to
just trust in financial institutions. You know you won’t get the payday at the end,
they’ll always work out some way of taking the money in the meantime.
